Ya I didn't get a chance to work on it. I did wire in 3 sets of lights in my garage. I have plenty of light now. I didn't realize how dark it was in there!

Bob and I got the old crossmember out and the KP raised one in! Thanks for the help Bob. I need to get some freaking pictures! LOL. I have some brackets, gussests, and other stuff on order.

Trevor or Jason....when you put in the KP crossmember do you have to raise the front of the gas tank also? I can't really tell if the tank is above the frame enough or not??

My gas tank is metal. How do I go about raising the front? Do I shorten the strap?? I thought the front was still a little low.

Chris has a template you can use, he got it with the bolton back half and it shows you where to drill the holes higher to raise the front.

I'll ask him tomorrow, if nothing else, we can just make a copy on paper and mail it up to you...LOL That way you have the pattern and can just mark the new holes.

Let me know and I can send you my address. I am in no hurry yet. I am waiting on parts to get in and I have more to order!

By the time Im done with the rear it wont be a KP kit anymore! There will only be a few parts left from the kit.

Re: [Howto] Suicidedoors 3-link/5-link Install

The gas tank crossmember is designed to raise the stock s10 tank above the frame rails so it doesn't get damaged, this is one of the features that puts this kit above the rest. However you also need to raise the front tank strap or the front of the tank will tip down and hang even lower than stock.

To do this, set a level vertically on each hole (the truck is level right?!?) and mark all 4 centerlines. Then measure up about 3/4-1" on the frame and mark that as the new hole to drill. Drill all 4 holes out to 3/8", you can go a little larger if you need if your measurements werent exact. Then jack the tank back up and reinstall all the stock hardware. Also pictured is the one bolt for the e-brake bracket. that remains unchanged, but you may need to notch the bracket itself because it used to share a gas tank bolt.

Alright another update. I got my gas tank raised in the front and back. I am not sure if the front is up high enough. I want to give a big thanks to Scott! He came over last weekend and helped me weld everything in. We made a couple of changes to my KP kit and it is much better now! I will drive it to the meet on Sunday. I also have new rear bags....YA YA

The next step is to take it to Kyle at Guilty by Designs. I have scheduled with him to have it at his shop the weekend of the 22nd....he is going to make me a custom rack for my pumps and air tank.
